Sublime Text 2

Transient

So, for years now I've been using Textmate as my primary code editor. At first I loved the ease of use and cool plugin features of Textmate but over the past year the polish has been slowly wearing off. Then came Textmate 2, which just made the situation worse. I've had both installed on my system for a while now and switch over to Textmate 2 every once in a while to check and see if it had been polished up at all. I'm not trying to knock Textmate as it has been a valuable tool for me and I couldn't have gotten to where I am without it! But my eye started to wander.

I took a look at Coda 2 for a brief moment, but it felt a little bloated compared to Textmate. It seems to have all the tools I needed but the things I didn't need didn't get out of the way easy enough. I love the built in FTP though, as I use Transmit as my goto FTP client and Coda has Transmit pretty much built in (both apps were created by Panic, of course). It's a nice little code editor, but I felt like there was something  missing.

Then I found Sublime Text 2! It was as if the clouds parted just enough for a ray of light to hit my lappy! *angelic ahhhhh* Sublime Text 2 seems to have picked up where Textmate left off. You can find a lot of similar functionality in Sublime Text 2. I don't know how, since it seems like the same idea, but it feels more customizable than Textmate. And the fact that it is cross platform means that I can work on a team with Windows devs, or even Linux devs, and we can all use the same code editor which makes for easier collaboration when showing off some coding and shortcut techniques. It's a very powerful editor! It can even use Textmate bundles and themes. And there is a free trial! So if you are a Textmate user or just a developer looking for a great code editor, give it a try, I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy it!
